Geissele SMR 416 Offset Scout Mount and Indexer

The Arisaka Offset Scout Mount for Geissele SMR 416 handguards was developed at the request of a United States special operations unit. This is a contract overrun, with the remaining units being made available to civilians.

These mounts attach directly to the threaded inserts on the Geissele SMR 416, eliminating additional Picatinny rails and Picatinny mounts. Three lateral light positions allow the user to tuck the light closer to the top rail or gain clearance around top rail mounted accessories like laser illuminators. In particular, there is enough clearance for the larger Modlite OKW and PLH heads to fit next to the NGAL, LA-5/PEQ, AN/PEQ15 and ATPIAL-C. It will also allow lights to clear the QD lever on the Steiner DBAL I2, A3, and D2.

In addition to three lateral light positions, the mount also allows fore and aft adjustment so the user can fine tune the location of the light to their setup.

We have also released a new control accessory called the Indexer, which is available for the Geissele SMR 416 and M-Lok. It was developed due to end-user demand for a Geissele SMR 416 and M-Lok version of our Finger Stop for Picatinny rails, and features a slim front-to-back profile and slight radius across both faces.

The Indexer can be used in a variety of ways, but the main intent is to place it between two fingers (usually index and middle). This typically places it further forward on the handguard, which also means it doesn't get in the way when transitioning to kneeling or prone shooting positions, where most people move their support hand towards the rear. Used in this manner, the Indexer makes it much easier to pull the rifle into your shoulder and maintain control while shooting.

Additionally, the wider, flatter profile of the Indexer functions very well as a hand stop or barricade stop, and also works as a forward limit to prevent your fingers from slipping off shorter handguards onto a hot barrel or suppressor.
