Mossie Midnight 1913 FSB Mount
The Mossie Midnight Mount is designed to place a 1913 Picatinny based weapon light at 12 o'clock for ambidextrous use. It easily installs on most standard and "F" marked front sight bases (FSB). The host weapon is not modified, which is especially important to many law enforcement officers who may not be allowed to alter their issued weapons.
Installation is simple: approach the FSB at a slight angle near the top and wrap the locking arms around the vertical post before sliding it down into position. Tighten the two included patched set screws with a 3/32" Allen wrench to level and secure the mount.
The following lights will provide an unobstructed sight picture:
- Surefire X300
- Streamlight TLR1, TLR3
- Streamlight/Insight Technologies M3
- Insight Procyon/WX150
- NEBO 180 lumen Weaponlight
The Streamlight TLR2 and Surefire X400 will also fit, but will protrude into the sight picture.
Weight: 0.88 oz
The Mossie Midnight Mount is CNC machined from 6061-T6 aluminum and MIL-A-8625 Type III hard coat anodized. Requires a 3/32" Allen wrench for installation (not included). Made 100% in the USA.
Q & A:
1. Won't the FSB and mount get hot while firing, making it difficult to use the light?
Of course, but the Mossie Midnight Mount was not designed with the intention of being in an extended fire fight. It was designed for law enforcement officers who are unable to use aftermarket handguards, and have few alternatives to mount a light. Their typical usage scenario does not include expending hundreds of rounds in a short period of time.
2. Will this mount fit my FSB?
The Mossie Midnight Mount fits most standard and "F" marked front sight bases. As with all manufacturing, tolerance stacking and/or poor finish machining of the FSB forgings may result in a poor fit, or even the inability to use the mount on your specific rifle.
3. Is this mount a copy of the original?
The Mossie Midnight Mount that we produce is made with Buck Mossie's permission. He owns the intellectual property rights and patent for the original mounts.
