The Patent Pending ULM M-Lok is a low profile sling mount designed specifically for use with the Blue Force Gear ULoop. The exterior shape is contoured to reduce snagging on equipment, and the pass-through tunnel has radiused edges to prevent wear to the nylon sleeved cable of the ULoop. It is also large enough to allow the ball tip of the ULoop cable to pass through, making for quick installation or removal without tools.
Some people may ask the question - Why use this mount when a ULoop can be installed through an M-Lok slot?
1. A ULoop installed through an M-Lok slot does not normally lay flat against the handguard, causing the sling to twist off axis.
2. M-Lok slots do not typically have nicely radiused or chamfered edges, leading to additional wear to the nylon cable covering, reducing the overall life of your ULoop.
3. Depending on where it is installed, the inherent play in the ULoop will allow it to touch the hot barrel or gas block, potentially melting the nylon cable covering.
4. It can be difficult to feed a ULoop cable back out of an M-Lok slot or handguard vent hole, making it much less of a "quick" attach fitting.
The Arisaka ULM M-Lok solves all of the above issues, letting slings to lay completely flat against the handguard, allowing limited rotation in all axis similar to an anti-rotation QD swivel (but with a fraction of the noise), and provides ease of attachment or removal of the ULoop while protecting the nylon covered cable with properly radiused edges and isolation from the barrel and/or gas block.
